Stone
Thought I was done
with the locked door
and the skeleton key;
old bones,
old dry ghosts,
but here I am,
tucked away
inside myself,
a cold grey thing.
Smiling on the out,
nothing on the in.
Hiding myself away
from little hurts,
small words.
Twisting my face
into solitude.
Pricked my finger
just to feel
something more
than hard,
gave up when
you slammed the door
and walked away.

Poem on Every Day Poets
I've been neglecting the blog lately, boys and girls. My apologies, but I've been busy with manuscript edits and I apologize in advance because this is going to be a short post.
My poem, 'Shatter', is on Every Day Poets today. You can read it, leave comments, and even rate it if you choose to. Love it, hate it, find it immensely puzzling or just boring? Let me know. I've a thick skin. I can take it.
